What is the difference between the 3 kinds of Opportunities: Bonus, Promotional, Events?
Bonus Opportunities: These campaigns form the core of ShopMy’s Opportunities, offering creators complete creative freedom. They are flexible campaigns where the brand sets expectations, such as posting five links within 30 days. Creators have the freedom to decide when and how to fulfill these requirements and, upon completion, they are instantly paid. Example: A fashion brand will pay for you to link to five fully-priced items on their DTC site.
Promotional Opportunities: This style focuses on specific events, like product launches or sales. These opportunities typically have tighter timelines and specific guidelines regarding the products that can be promoted. Example: A beauty brand invites creators to share links to specific products included in their upcoming sale while the sale is live.
Event Opportunities: These experiential opportunities involve invitations to exclusive brand events. They could include attending a branded dinner, participating in a brand trip, or visiting a pop-up. Example: A brand invites creators to visit a pop-up event in NYC and pick a few of their favorite pieces.
What is the tracking process?
The tracking process for Opportunities leverages ShopMy's extensive experience in tracking and analytics, with a few specific considerations outlined below:
- Stories posted within one hour of each other will be counted as a single social mention.
- Each product must have a unique link generated by you to count towards fulfilling your expectations.
- The Opportunity will refresh every 15 minutes to scan for new posts and links. If you do not see your content right away, wait 15 minutes and then refresh the page.
- You have the flexibility to accept and begin posting content up to seven days before the tracking window starts. Content posted during this period will count towards meeting your expectations.

What is a unique link?
For Opportunities, a unique link refers to a newly generated ShopMy link within the given tracking window. Although you may be linking to a product with existing traffic and earnings, a new link must be created for each social post to ensure the brand can accurately track performance. Links created months ago, for example, won’t work, as they won’t reflect the traffic driven during that specific Opportunity’s tracking window.
What is a Linking Day?
Brands clearly outline the guidelines for each Opportunity, which may include the request that links be shared on separate days (i.e Linking Days). This means you'll need to share a new, unique link on different days throughout the Opportunity’s timeline to meet the requirements. For example, if you share two links on the same day, only one will be counted towards that Opportunity.
Why aren’t all my links being counted towards the Opportunity?
There are a few reasons as to why this may happen that are listed below:
- Insufficient Clicks: Links must receive at least 10 clicks to be eligible. Links with fewer clicks are excluded.
- Duplicate Links: Sharing the same link multiple times only counts as one unique link, even if posted in different stories.
- Outdated Links: Using older links or links not updated to the most recent version for the opportunity may lead to them not being tracked.
- Incorrect Link Type: Links must direct to the DTC website provided for the campaign. Links to third-party retailers or other sites won't count.
- Outside Tracking Window: Links created or shared outside the designated tracking window may not qualify unless they generate traffic or sales within the window.
- Early Link Usage: Links posted early (up to 7 days before the opportunity start date) are only credited if they generate activity (traffic or sales) within the tracking window.
Why were links posted 3 days ago still counted?
Links generated up to 7 days before the opportunity start date can still count if they receive traffic or sales within the tracking window. For example, if a you share a link early but the link generates activity within the window, it will be credited.
What happens if I share the same link twice?
Sharing the same link multiple times will only count as one unique link. To meet the opportunity requirements, you must share distinct links.
How can I ensure all my links are counted?
Always use the most recent and updated links provided for the opportunity. Double-check before posting to avoid using older links that might not be tracked.
What type of link should I use to ensure it counts toward the opportunity?
Always link directly to the DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) website provided for the campaign, unless specified to do otherwise. Links to other sites, such as third-party retailers, will not be tracked and therefore won’t count toward the opportunity.
What is the tracking window, and how does it affect link credit?
The tracking window is the designated period during which creators must generate and share their links for them to count toward an opportunity. Links created outside this window may not qualify unless they receive traffic or sales within the specified timeframe.
How do I see the status of my links?
Creators can view the status of their links within the app, which provides details on why links did or did not count. Please see the example below:

Do my socials need to be connected to participate?
To participate in Opportunities, it is necessary to connect your social channels. This connection enables brands to view the content you post and allows our system to verify and mark your expectations as completed.
Where can I find Opportunities?
Opportunities can be found on the top navigation bar, located to the right of "Gifting & Codes." You will receive a push notification on your app to alert you of any Opportunities requests and they will also be accessible under the "Opportunities" tab.
How does Opportunities work with the gifting requests I’m already receiving?
While a brand may include sending you a Lookbook as part of an Opportunity, the two are not directly linked. Some ShopMy brands focus exclusively on gifting campaigns, while others prefer to use Opportunities, or sometimes a combination of both. Unless a specific product or Lookbook is mentioned, you have the freedom to link to whichever products you prefer.
What if a brand invites me to an Opportunity and I don’t own any of their products?
The beauty of Opportunities is in the authenticity. If you don’t currently use their products or don't feel comfortable promoting them, you can politely decline the Opportunity. Alternatively, you can showcase your interest by discussing products you plan to purchase, supported by screenshots from their website.
You also have the option to reach out to the brand and express interest in trying their products. However, please note that participation in their Opportunity does not guarantee that they will be gifting product.
Will I still earn commission on the sales I drive?
In most cases, brands will either maintain your commission rate or increase it as part of the Opportunity. However, there are instances where commission may be temporarily removed during the tracking period, with creators receiving a flat fee instead. This arrangement will be clearly communicated to you when you receive the invitation. See the example below for clarification.
Can I add my agent to the payment process?
You have the option to add an account manager in your account settings, enabling agents or managers to receive a predetermined portion from your flat fee payment. This can be adjusted by editing “Take Rate on Opportunities” in Account Management under your Account Settings.
