If you've noticed a commission appear in your account and later disappear, it's likely because the brand or retailer reversed the order.
Brands and retailers are responsible for reviewing and validating the orders attributed through their affiliate programs. During this process, they may determine that an order is no longer eligible for commission and reverse it.
These adjustments are made at the brand or retailer's discretion - ShopMy does not make or control commission reversals. Once a reversal is reported back to us, it will be reflected in your ShopMy earnings.
Why Do Brands Reverse Orders
There are several reasons a brand or retailer may reverse a previously reported commission, including:
- The order was returned or exchanged: If some or all of an order is returned or exchanged, the associated commission may be adjusted or reversed.
- The order was canceled: Orders canceled by either the shopper or retailer may no longer qualify for commission.
- The payment failed: If the shopper's payment wasn't successfully completed or authorized, the commission may be reversed.
- It was a self-purchase: Many brands and retailers don't allow creators to earn commission on purchases made through their own affiliate links. If an order is identified as a self-purchase, it may be reversed.
- The order was flagged as a duplicate or potentially fraudulent: Brands may remove commissions associated with duplicate, invalid, or potentially fraudulent transactions.
- The attribution was adjusted: In some cases, the brand or retailer may determine that the order should be attributed elsewhere based on their individual affiliate program rules.
Keep in mind: This isn't an exhaustive list. Each brand and retailer sets its own affiliate program rules and ultimately determines whether an order is eligible for commission.
Why Did My Pending Commission Change?
You may notice your Pending commission fluctuate as brands review and validate their orders.
Brands and retailers sometimes process reversals or order adjustments in bulk, which means you may see several commissions change around the same time. This is a normal part of the validation process while earnings are still Pending.
